Dear Parishioners and Friends,
Good business leaders and saints have something in common: they learn to be proactive rather than reactive. Business leaders anticipate the market by studying forecasts, while saints prepare for God’s call by studying Scripture.
The angel Gabriel told the Blessed Virgin Mary, “Nothing will be impossible with God.” By being devout and attentive to Scripture, this is something that Mary already knew and that was why she could respond so quickly.
When the angel Gabriel came, we wouldn’t be surprised if at that very moment, Mary was meditating on the Old Testament reading for the Annunciation:
Therefore the Lord himself will give you this sign: the virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall name him Emmanuel, which means “God is with us!”
By whatever means of preparation, Mary was ready to respond.
Let’s prepare for the Solemnity as we continually prepare our hearts by being attentive to God’s Word.
In Christ,
Fr. Scharbach

Gratitude for the audio/visual improvements
I arranged a web meeting last week to consider options for improving our video, and Caleb Kortokrax brought substantial experience to the fore. When our new equipment arrived, Caleb immersed himself to learn it. I’m grateful for Mike Norton’s experience and technical assistance as well. Many hours last week made for a substantial improvement in meeting the ongoing needs of the faithful. Thank you.
Roman roads, the printing press, and now digital equipment: all these became means used by the Holy Spirit to advance the gospel.
Online giving is critical for the parish at this time
We’re grateful for those who have moved to online giving and continue their support at this time. When I meet with the accountant today, I’ll sign many checks because none of our bills are staying home. I’m thankful that we’ve received donations to offset the cost of our new video equipment. Please continue to support the parish at a regular level to the extent that this is possible for you. You can give through GiveCentral here.
