My Mother Mary, you give me the graces which are so readily available through the death of Jesus on the cross. Give me the grace of freedom from worldly attachment. My Lord Jesus, may my only hope and purpose in the world be you.
O my God, again and again how foolish I am proven to ever lose trust in your goodness. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. Before I was conceived you knew me. I praise you, I praise you. Before any thought comes to my mind you know it. Before I was born, each of my days you know. O God, I trust in you.

Isaac would have turned 23 this past Sunday. Before that day in 1997, the OB told us that Isaac was in perfect position for birth. Contractions began after his due date, but then he turned around! It was as if he thought better of it and preferred the womb. An emergency C-section followed and his life in this fallen world began. He seemed to make the best of it. Then another emergency marked his birth to eternal life. This seemed, of course, too soon. But before he was born, God knew each his days. Mother Mary gave Isaac ultimate freedom from worldly attachment. May we also trust in God’s goodness and seek hope and purpose for the world that begins and ends in our Lord Jesus Christ.
